Rainbow OMG Weekly Post 15/06/22

Hello Rainbow OMGers,

WE HAVE STRUCK GOLD! With current market prices this enormous Iceberg Lettuce should be enough to pay off our mortgage ūüôā

But on a serious note we would like to remind everyone that we have not raised our prices on any of our produce this year. Being a local producer allows us to control our prices as we have cut out the entire distribution network, our lettuce comes from Rigg Street, not Queensland.

Our prices are based on whether we can make a good living selling all that we grow. If we sell everything we will be comfortable and able to provide a great life for our children. As we have never come close to selling all that we grow, the “good living” is still a dream but the potential is there. If more people buy from us we have no need to raise prices.

We are committed to fair prices as long as we can expand our customer base and keep increasing sales. If not we will have to raise prices at some point to account for the massive cost of living increase we have all experienced since government restrictions ground our economy into the ground. We didn’t create the mess, we are just trying to live through it while giving access to organic food in an area where there was none previously.

Notes from the Garden

Last week was a flower and fruit week in the Lunar Calendar, culminating with the massive full moon last night. We direct seeded Sugar Snap Pas, applied compost to Broccoli beds and seeded more Broccoli in the Nursery. We also took advantage of the fruit cycle to plant a Fig tree and Passion-Fruit Vine.

Jill rounded out the week by preparing another batch of her incredible Sunshine Salve. This very long process is almost complete and we will have new, larger jars available asap. Look forward to these being available next week.

A reminder that some of our range is limited so please get your orders in quickly to secure your desired organic vegetables.

This week the Garden is providing Sugar Snap Peas(Limited), Capsicums, Lettuce, Bok Choi, Carrots, Beetroots, Zucchini (Limited), Rainbow Chard, Cucumbers (Limited) and Parsley.

Crops currently growing but not ready this week are Celery, Coriander, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Red Cabbage, Red Russian Kale and Spinach

Are you interested in our delicious vegetables but live just that little bit too far away to be worth the drive to Rainbow just to pick up one order?

We are looking for Rainbow OMG supporters from other towns in the region who are interested in working with us to increase the distribution of our organic vegetables and healthy lifestyle products. Buyers Hub organisers will be rewarded for their efforts.

If you would like a Rainbow OMG Buyers Hub in your town, please email “[email protected]” with your name and town and we will be in contact ASAP to kick start the process.

Some of our products may be a little different to what customers are used to so we will be providing Product Profiles in our Weekly Post and in a dedicated page on our website. This will provide recipe ideas and nutritional information for all of the vegetables and products we offer.
