Our Soil is Waking Up

After a few months of very slow growth in the market garden we are noticing faster growth in all of our crops. Our delicious Spinach is looking great, the head lettuces are bulking up, Sugar Snap Peas are starting to flower, we are flush with Coriander, have some lovely looking Bok Choi and will soon have Carrots back in stock. We are seeing immediate benefit from the top dressing of compost to each bed as we replant them, the new seedlings have deeper colour to them and are growing faster. With all the recent rain we have no need to water anything other than the nursery. Now we just need to see a little bit more of the sun and we are off to the races.

For our market this week we will have Spinach, Rocket, Coriander, Bok Choi, Rainbow Chard, Butterhead Lettuce, Celery, Scarlet Kale, Rainbow Chard and Parsley all freshly harvested from the garden.

Our Pop Up Market will return o the Limestone Coast Pantry Sunday 20th July 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. Come on down for a nice hot coffee, delicious meals, great conversations and Locally Grown Vegetables, Herbal Supplements, Honey and Colloidal Silver Products.
As always you can support our family and business by purchasing our supplements which are available 24/7 from our website and can be posted anywhere in the world.

Our produce is featured on the menu at the Nelson Hotel and customers are welcome to come and visit the farm to take a look and purchase vegetables and supplements Monday to Saturday between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Notes From The Garden

At Rainbow OMG we recognise the centuries long tradition of Moon Planting. In short the different phases of the Moon correspond to growth in in different parts of plants with about 7 days for each phase. The order is Leaf, Fruit/Flower, Root and Stop. We find this cycle an excellent tool for planning and scheduling of all the regular tasks needed for a functional farm.

We are currently in a Root Week and have transplanted a bed of Beetroots, top dressed our Carrots and Garlic with more compost and seeded more Beetroots in the Nursery. The end walls for our poly tunnel finally arrived yesterday so we can install those as soon as possible.
