As we launch into the second month of 2024 activity is ramping up again across all aspects of Rainbow OMG. Evan has been getting very dusty rotary hoeing, raking and pegging out the market garden as well as doing some local maintenance work and even recording a few songs with The Go Set for their upcoming 20th Anniversary release. Gardening and Music are Evan’s two main passions so he is having a great start to the new year.
We are working on a new range of supplements but this week Jill has been deep in concentration, skilfully crafting the latest batch of Sunshine Salve which is our premiere herbal medicine product. Product Focus – Sunshine Salve
Sunshine Salve is an all natural skin healing product. The salve is made with flowers and herbs from our gardens, decocted in olive oil, essential oils and set with beeswax. There are a lot of steps in the production of this salve from harvest to pouring into jars and It takes 5-7 days from start to finish. Jill imparts her magic, heart and soul into the production of this very powerful healing product and the potency is obvious to everyone who uses it.
As hard working farmers and parents we use Sunshine Salve on a daily basis on ourselves and our children. Mothers who have purchased or have been generously gifted this salve tell us their children ask for it every time they get a scratch or bruise, or better yet apply it themselves.
All the herbs and flowers in Sunshine Salve being Comfrey, Calendula, Yarrow and Plantain are grown in the gardens surrounding our main market garden beds. They help to create the full ecosystem we are attempting to mimic with our Permaculture Design methodology. Monocrops do not exist in nature so we follow this template and plant as much diversity as possible across the land we are blessed to have the opportunity to steward.
The herbs and flowers are extracted into Olive Oil from the Grampians and we then add essential oils and beeswax. The combination of all the above can provide the following health benefits:
