Rainbow OMG Weekly Post 30/11/22

A Recharge In The Mountains

We have just returned from our brief and only holiday for the year. The purpose of our travels was to attend the Wedding of a family member however this coincided to returning to the Alpine Region which Evan grew up in. We took the chance to go to Mt Buffalo where we hiked up the side of amazing waterfalls and enjoy the incredible views and giant boulders everywhere on top of the mountain. Although travelling with small children is hardly restful, we still had an amazing time seeing the sights and catching up with some old friends. A huge thank you to the caretakers of the farm while we were away, everything was alive and kicking when we returned which is all we could ask for.

 Notes From The Garden

By luck part of our holiday coincided with a Stop Week and Evan used the last day of the Leaf Week (yesterday) to catch up on planting and seeding Lettuce, Basil, Parsley, Bok Choi and Coriander. Sugar Snap Peas are now finished until after Summer but will be replaced with Green Beans likely next week. We anticipate having both Zucchini and Tomatoes available from next week with Cucumbers to follow soon after.

The latest Sunshine Salve is ready! Our new jars are 2.5 x the size of our previous jars so we have raised the price but increased the value for money. There are less than 20 available this time around as we are reserving quite a bit for our growing family. The larger jars will last a very long time, likely more than a year for most people.

A reminder that some of our range is limited so please get your orders in quickly to secure your desired organic vegetables.

This week the Garden is providing Eggs, Butterhead Lettuce, Rainbow Chard, Spinach, Bok Choi, Red Russian Kale, Carrots and Coriander.

Crops currently growing but not ready are Garlic, Celery, Beetroots, Tomatoes, Capsicums, Cucumbers, Corn, Green Beans, Zucchini, Parsley and Basil.

Product Focus: Gardenkraut

Most people are familiar with Sauerkraut which is a traditional side dish made of fermented cabbage. However did you know that almost any vegetable can be fermented? Gardenkraut is our own take on the traditional recipe and is made with whatever the garden is providing when we make it. This Gardenkraut is made with Red Cabbage, Carrots and Beetroots.

Fermented Vegetables should be considered a superfood. The lacto-fermentation process transforms vegetables into a very potent Probiotic, providing the following health benefits:

  • Reduced overall inflammation
  • Improvement of digestive disorders like leaky gut syndrome, ulcerative colitis, IBS and pouchitis
  • Improved immunity
  • Better nutrient absorption
  • Prevention and treatment of diarrhea
  • Prevention and symptom reduction of food allergies, including lactose intolerance, milk protein allergy and others
  • Improvement of high blood pressure
  • Reduced risk of cancer
  • Alleviation of arthritis inflammation
  • Reduction of eczema symptoms
  • Lowered cholesterol
  • Protection against H. pylori infection
  • Better immune response in HIV/AIDS patients
  • Improved vaginal health and prevention of bacterial infections like UTIs and bacterial vaginosis
  • Natural remedy for the liver/brain disease hepatic encephalopathy

Fermented vegetables should be kept refrigerated. Order your Gardenkraut today.

Ingredients: Red Cabbage, Carrots, Beetroots and Himalayan Salt.

Some of our products may be a little different to what customers are used to so we will be providing Product Profiles in our Weekly Post and in a dedicated page on our website. This will provide recipe ideas and nutritional information for all of the vegetables and products we offer.

All items listed for $7.50 are discounted at 3 for $20 when paying with cash or cryptocurrency i.e. 1 x Rainbow Chard, 1 x Capsicum and 1 x Carrots = $20.
