Hello Rainbow OMGers,
As the weather slowly cools, the garden changes with the Season. Some crops like Green Beans are phasing out until Spring while others like Sugar Snap Peas are taking over for Winter. We also see different weed species in the cooler months and our weeding schedule is busiest at this time of year and as we break new ground for 10 more market beds in the front section of the farm block.
We spent the week turning over some old beds, revitalising them with compost and transplanting Lettuce, Bok Choi, Red Cabbage and Cauliflower as well as direct seeding Spinach. Due to lack of demand we terminated all our Basil other than inside the Greenhouse where it will continue for another month or two. We also seeded trays of Lettuce and Spinach in the Nursery.
Sadly Green Beans are now finished until Spring however Sugar Snap Peas love the cold and will be producing from next week. Sugar Snap Peas are your seasonal, frost hardy substitute for Green Beans. We are also not offering any Carrots this week to allow them to grow out a little more.
This week the garden is providing Capsicums, Cherry Tomatoes, Lettuce, Bok Choi, Carrots, Beetroots, Zucchinis, Rainbow Chard, Cucumber, Basil, Coriander and Parsley. We also have a few jars of Gardenkraut remaining before we make our next batch.
Crops currently growing but not ready this week are Carrots, Celery, Spinach, Red Russian Kale, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Sugar Snap Peas, Onions and Garlic
