Hello Rainbow OMGers, We finally have some consistent hot weather which has been lovely. Our main goal for the farm this week has been setting up as much shade as we have available. Most vegetables grow much healthier with at least 30% shade in our hot, dry climate so we have obliged and will keep the shade up for the next 4-5 months. We have some Coriander available again. We have planted a lot more herbs in the last month and are hoping to maintain a year round supply of Coriander, you can read more about this amazing herb in our Vegetable Focus below. We still have a few jars of our amazing Gardenkraut probiotic available. The next ferment we make will be based on Red Cabbage and Beetroots. Become a Member, Save Time and Money. Life is busy, we get it, so in order to make life easier we have launched our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Monthly Subscription. Save over 25% off retail and receive 4 different vegetables and 1 herb bunch Never miss out and let us do the hard work for you by purchasing a 4 week CSA Share which purchases deliveries for the next 4 weeks and we will choose the best range of available vegetables for you. If you wish you can specify your order each week, otherwise we will take care of everything. We look forward to serving all of our CSA members . Some of our crops may be a little different to what customers are used to so we will be providing Vegetable Profiles in our Weekly Post and in a dedicated page on our website. This will provide recipe ideas and nutritional information for all of the vegetables we grow. Vegetable Focus: Coriander |
Coriander is a small green herb that looks quite similar to flat leaf Parsley. In Australia we generally use Coriander to describe the herb (fresh leaves) and the ground seeds as a spice while other countries use the term Cilantro to describe the leaves. Coriander is used extensively in Indian foods and in fact in most Asian cooking in general, it is also used in Mexican dished like tacos. It has a unique flavour and has the ability to transform a meal into something special. More than just a garnish Coriander, like all herbs, should be used and eaten in larger quantities than most people tend to serve so we encourage customers to use more than you might think per person. Here is the best part, Coriander is a very potent natural healer both in nutritional profile and its ability to detox the body. Coriander contains: |
