Farmers Market and a New Portland Retail Outlet
We have another big announcement this week, as of tomorrow afternoon our locally grown, organic vegetables will be available for purchase from a brand new wholefoods cafe in Portland!
We are thrilled to be partnering with Katy from Willow & Bean which has opened as of today. This exciting new venture is both a cafe and retail outlet for people interested in healthy living and sustainable farms like ours. We will be restocking their fridge every Thursday starting tomorrow and are proud to now be servicing Portland alongside Nelson and Mount Gambier. We highly recommend heading on down to grab a coffee, meet the owners and peruse their excellent range of products. I for one will be taking home some raw milk cheese, which is exceptionally rare to find in Australia.
This Saturday we will return to the Mount Gambier Farmers Market for an extended time frame of 9:00-3:00 as the market coincides with the Mount Gambier Christmas Parade. We look forward to seeing our regular customers and meeting many new ones, we will be offering our vegetables, skin salve, honey and pasture raised eggs.
Customers are welcome to visit the farm in Nelson to take a look and purchase vegetables, eggs, honey, salves and supplements Monday to Saturday between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Our produce is available year round at Food For Thought in Mount Gambier where you can find a wide range of healthy products to compliment our vegetables and are featured on the menu at the Nelson Hotel.

Notes From The Garden
At Rainbow OMG we recognise the centuries long tradition of Moon Planting. In short the different phases of the Moon correspond to growth in in different parts of plants with about 7 days for each phase. The order is Leaf, Fruit/Flower, Root and Stop. We find this cycle an excellent tool for planning and scheduling of all the regular tasks needed for a functional farm.
Yesterday was the final day of a Root Week and we have transplanted more Beetroots and direct seeded Carrots. About half of our Garlic is ready to be pulled and hung up to cure so we will attend to that as soon as possible as well. We are really looking forward to offering Garlic again as part of our range.

Product Focus – Pasture Raised Eggs
| 1 Dozen Pasture Raised Eggs 800g We source these amazing eggs from Providore Farm in Narrawong, South-West Victoria. Zac and Alana Jeffries started their farm in 2015, driven by a commitment to producing premium, ethical food for their community and wholesale partners who value quality over volume. Their hens are truly pasture-raised. They live in mobile sheds that move regularly across the farm, ensuring they always have access to fresh pasture. They stock at just 156 birds per hectare – a stark contrast to the industry standard of 10,000 birds per hectare under the “free-range” label. This low density results in healthier birds and richly coloured yolks that customers can see and taste. We love these eggs and know you will too. |
