A New Partnership
We have had another productive and expansive week and are thrilled to announce that we will now be regularly supplying the Bayside Cafe in Portland with our delicious vegetables and herbs. We were lucky to have the opportunity to give Kelly, the owner, a tour of our farm over the weekend and have subsequently delivered our first round of produce to the cafe, which is located inside the Portland Visitor Information Centre and has direct views straight out over the harbour. What a delightful place to enjoy a coffee and delicious meal, we encourage all our followers to pop in whenever you are in Portland.
We have also been very busy transplanting the remainder of our Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Capsicums and even some Pumpkins for the first time in a few years. Our early Tomatoes already have flowers on them so we are well on track for a much longer Tomatoe season this Summer, which is good news for everyone.
Customers are welcome to visit the farm in Nelson to take a look and purchase vegetables, eggs, honey, salves and supplements Monday to Saturday between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Our produce is available year round at Food For Thought in Mount Gambier where you can find a wide range of healthy products to compliment our vegetables and are featured on the menu at the Nelson Hotel.

Notes From The Garden
At Rainbow OMG we recognise the centuries long tradition of Moon Planting. In short the different phases of the Moon correspond to growth in in different parts of plants with about 7 days for each phase. The order is Leaf, Fruit/Flower, Root and Stop. We find this cycle an excellent tool for planning and scheduling of all the regular tasks needed for a functional farm.
We are now in a Flower/Fruit Week so we have transplanted a range of Cherry Tomatoes, Pumpkins, Cucumbers, Capsicums and various ornamental flowers direct seeded Green Beans as well as sowing more seedling trays in the Nursery.

Product Focus – Pasture Raised Eggs
| 1 Dozen Pasture Raised Eggs 800g We source these amazing eggs from Providore Farm in Narrawong, South-West Victoria. Zac and Alana Jeffries started their farm in 2015, driven by a commitment to producing premium, ethical food for their community and wholesale partners who value quality over volume. Their hens are truly pasture-raised. They live in mobile sheds that move regularly across the farm, ensuring they always have access to fresh pasture. They stock at just 156 birds per hectare – a stark contrast to the industry standard of 10,000 birds per hectare under the “free-range” label. This low density results in healthier birds and richly coloured yolks that customers can see and taste. We love these eggs and know you will too. |
