First Stall at Mount Gambier Farmer’s Market

Hello to the Rainbow OMG Community, we hope you all had a great Australia Day weekend. We had a fantastic time playing at gig at the Nelson Hotel on Saturday night and then attending a BBQ in Nelson on Sunday.

2025 is a new year with new beginnings and we are excited to announce that this weekend we will be holding our first stall at the Mount Gambier Farmer’s Market, which is held at the Library in the middle of the city. So come on down Saturday 1st February from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm to fill up on your locally grown, freshly harvested vegetables as well as all the other vendors who will be in attendance. We will have a brand new crop this week being Rocket as well as our usual Carrots, Lettuce, Beetroots, Green Beans, Coriander, Parsley, Bok Choi, Kale and Rainbow Chard. If this market goes well we are intending to attend the market every two weeks.

We look forward to see our regular customers as well as meeting many new ones this Saturday.

Our produce is now available for retail purchases and is featured on the menu at the Nelson Hotel and is always stocked and available at Food For Thought in Mount Gambier. Notes From The Garden

At Rainbow OMG we recognise the centuries long tradition of Moon Planting. In short the different phases of the Moon correspond to growth in in different parts of plants with about 7 days for each phase. The order is Leaf, Fruit/Flower, Root and Stop. We find this cycle an excellent tool for planning and scheduling of all the regular tasks needed for a functional farm.

The last week we have been in a stop week and have actually used this week for some genuine down time, taking a break from the grind of farming to play some music and hang out with some friends.

Product Focus – Rainbow Chard

The ever beautiful Rainbow Chard is simply multi coloured Silverbeet. Rather than just green and white Silverbeet, Rainbow Chard comes in red, pink, orange, yellow, white with pink stripes, white and more allowing you to Eat The Rainbow. Rainbow Chard is far more heat tolerant that traditional Spinach and is generally available all year.
