Shoulder Seasons
Our goal as market gardeners is to have the broadest range of produce available every week however this is not always possible. We are currently in the Shoulder Season between Winter and Summer meaning some crops have not yet started producing and others, like Sugar Snap Peas have wound up production until next year. Combine the time of year with the fact that the farm is still being developed we currently only 5 or so crops producing which does not make for a very interesting market stall.
Due to to this seasonal gap in production we have made the difficult decision to cancel our Pop Up Market this Saturday. We will be back at the Limestone Coast Pantry on December 21 just in time to stock up on fresh veggies for Christmas. We still have plenty of stock available at Food For Thought in Mount Gambier and the Nelson Hotel.
For anyone who would still like to hang out with Jill and Evan, they will be playing a gig with the new local band “Tom Collins & The Southern Lights” at the Bellum Hotel this Friday December 6th. Evan will be on double bass and Jill will feature on vocals in a few songs, the band plays from 8:00 pm till Late and we would love to see a lot of you there. Here is a video of the last time this band played together at the Nelson Hotel, we are sure you will have a great time.
Our produce is now available for retail purchases and is featured on the menu at the Nelson Hotel and is always stocked and available at Food For Thought in Mount Gambier. Customers are welcome to come and visit the farm to take a look and purchase vegetables 7 days a week between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Notes From The Garden
At Rainbow OMG we recognise the centuries long tradition of Moon Planting. In short the different phases of the Moon correspond to growth in in different parts of plants with about 7 days for each phase. The order is Leaf, Fruit/Flower, Root and Stop. We find this cycle an excellent tool for planning and scheduling of all the regular tasks needed for a functional farm.
This week is Leaf Week and we are certainly busy. We have transplanted Lettuce, Bok Choi, Kale, Basil, Thai Basil, direct Seeded Parsley and Coriander as well as seeding Lettuce, Bok Choi, Basil, Rocket and more. Jill is also harvested medicinal herbs such as Comfrey, Plantain and Yarrow.
