Markets and Music
This coming weekend is a big one for Rainbow OMG. We have our fortnightly stall at the Mount Gambier Farmers Market and then gigs to play Saturday and Sunday night. Both Evan and Jill we attending the Farmers Market so we will have a wide range of vegetables and herbal supplement goodies available.
Evan has two passions in life, growing delicious and healthy food for our community and performing live music people can dance to. This coming weekend is chock full of both. For those that don’t know Evan was a touring musician for about 7 years with a Celtic Punk band call The Go Set, touring all over Australia dozens of times, Europe 4 times and the USA twice. We left this life behind to start a family and our first farm in Rainbow, Victoria. During this period music fell by the wayside and left an important critical piece of Evan missing.
We relocated our family and farm to Nelson in September 2023 and this opened up opportunities to play music again as one of our former band mates lives in the area. So Tommy Collins and The Southern Lights was formed, performing at venues and festivals across the Limestone Coast region.
So head on down to The Bellum Hotel on Saturday night to see Evan perform with The Go Set and then to the Art in the Sticks Festival at Lucindale on Sunday. Both events will be a fantastic experience and we are really looking forward to them.
Vegetable sales are now re-activated on the website, customers are welcome to order online or visit the farm to take a look and purchase vegetables and supplements Monday to Saturday between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.
Our produce is available year round at Food For Thought in Mount Gambier where you can find a wide range of healthy products to compliment our vegetables and are featured on the menu at the Nelson Hotel.
We are actively seeking a retail outlet in Portland to extend our reach in the local region.

Notes From The Garden
At Rainbow OMG we recognise the centuries long tradition of Moon Planting. In short the different phases of the Moon correspond to growth in in different parts of plants with about 7 days for each phase. The order is Leaf, Fruit/Flower, Root and Stop. We find this cycle an excellent tool for planning and scheduling of all the regular tasks needed for a functional farm.
We have just entered a Flower and Fruit Week so we will be transplanting more Tomatoes, Cucumbers and Zucchinis, direct seeding more Green Beans, seeding back up trays of fruit crops in the Nursery as well as seeding and transplanting more flowers
