This week we harvested the first successful large crop of onions we have grown. We have grown somewhere between 400-600 of a mix of red and brown onions. The primary goal of Rainbow OMG is to provide for our family’s needs first and to share the surplus with anyone local who values what we do. This crop of onions will cure for the next month or so and hopefully store well into next year and be available for sale in the near future. In the meantime Cherry Tomatoes, Zucchini’s and Green Beans are ripe and ready for sale, stock is limited this week so get your orders in quickly.

Some of our products may be a little different to what customers are used to so we will be providing Product Profiles in our Weekly Post and in a dedicated page on our website. This will provide recipe ideas and nutritional information for all of the vegetables and products we offer.
Product Focus: Carrots
Everyone is familiar with carrots. They can be eaten raw or cooked and are one of the most popular root vegetables on Earth.
Did you know that the original carrot was purple? It is rumoured that the orange carrots we know and love today originated in 17th Century Holland where growers bred orange varieties to gain favour of Dutch Royalty, orange being the colour of the royal family. This may or may not be true but it is a good story anyway 🙂
