Eating A Local Diet<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Wow! I just finished a breakfast so delicious that I had to write about it. 90% of the ingredients in this breakfast were either produced by us or other local producers. We had avocado toast topped with double yolk eggs from Providore Farm<\/a>, organic cheese, Pea Shoots from our fellow market vendor Hayward Microgreens<\/a>, our home made Gardenkraut and a  salad made up mostly of our vegetables.

Not only was this meal very tasty, it is nutrient dense and loaded with beneficial microbes, indigenous to the local region. This is very important to maintaining a healthy gut microbiome to allow for easy digestion and assimilation of all the vitamins and minerals contained in every delicious ingredient in this meal. 

It is a joy for us to have worked our way to a point where most of what we eat is produced in the local region or supplied by exceptional farmers from Australia. Real food is not only delicious, it is nourishing to the mind, body and soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Saturday we will return to the\u00a0Mount Gambier Farmers Market<\/a>\u00a0for our regular, fortnightly stall. The weather forecast looks glorious so we look forward to seeing our regular customers, meeting new ones and offering our Vegetables, Herb Bundles, Skin Salves, Nelson Honey and Providore Pasture Raised Eggs.

Customers are welcome to visit the farm in Nelson to take a look and purchase vegetables, eggs, honey, salves and supplements Monday to Saturday between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our produce is available year round at Food For Thought<\/a> in Mount Gambier where you can find a wide range of healthy products to compliment our vegetables and are featured on the menu at the Nelson Hotel<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are actively seeking a retail outlet in Portland to extend our reach in the local region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notes From The Garden<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

At Rainbow OMG we recognise the centuries long tradition of Moon Planting. In short the different phases of the Moon correspond to growth in in different parts of plants with about 7 days for each phase. The order is Leaf, Fruit\/Flower, Root and Stop. We find this cycle an excellent tool for planning and scheduling of all the regular tasks needed for a functional farm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are now in a Leaf Week which means on top of regular harvesting we will be direct seeding Salad Mix, Spinach and Rocket as well as transplanting Rainbow Chard, Celery, Head Lettuce, Bok Choi and Spring Onions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Product Focus – Pasture Raised Eggs<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
1 Dozen Pasture Raised Eggs 800g 

We source these amazing eggs from Providore Farm<\/a> in Narrawong, South-West Victoria. Zac and Alana Jeffries started their farm in 2015, driven by a commitment to producing premium, ethical food for their community and wholesale partners who value quality over volume. 

Their hens are truly pasture-raised. They live in mobile sheds that move regularly across the farm, ensuring they always have access to fresh pasture. They stock at just 156 birds per hectare \u2013 a stark contrast to the industry standard of 10,000 birds per hectare under the \u201cfree-range\u201d label. This low density results in healthier birds and richly coloured yolks that customers can see and taste.
