An Eggciting Announcement<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday we had the pleasure of visiting the very beautiful Providore Farm<\/a> in Narrawong, Victoria. The visit had two purposes, firstly to seek advice on how to expand our customer base for our vegetables and secondly to see how they manage their Pasture Raised Egg operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am happy to say the advice was freely given and very valuable, we have a long list of options to explore in our efforts to become sustainable from a financial side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am also also very excited to announce that we are now stocking Providore Eggs<\/a> which will be available through our Farm Gate Sales, Webstore and Market Stalls. Pasture Raised Eggs are superior to both Cage and Free Range eggs in every aspect. They are higher in nutrition, the chickens live a clean, happy and healthy life and they improve the environment of the farms they are raised on. That’s a Win Win Win if ever I saw one.

We are proud to partner with Providore Farms and will be stocking the 800g size from now on.

Customers are welcome to visit the farm in Nelson to take a look and purchase vegetables, eggs, honey, salves and supplements Monday to Saturday between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our produce is available year round at Food For Thought<\/a> in Mount Gambier where you can find a wide range of healthy products to compliment our vegetables and are featured on the menu at the Nelson Hotel<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are actively seeking a retail outlet in Portland to extend our reach in the local region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notes From The Garden<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

At Rainbow OMG we recognise the centuries long tradition of Moon Planting. In short the different phases of the Moon correspond to growth in in different parts of plants with about 7 days for each phase. The order is Leaf, Fruit\/Flower, Root and Stop. We find this cycle an excellent tool for planning and scheduling of all the regular tasks needed for a functional farm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are now in a Leaf\u00a0Week which means on top of regular harvesting we will be direct seeding Salad Mix, Spinach and Rocket as well as transplanting Rainbow Chard, Celery, Head Lettuce, Bok Choi and Spring Onions.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We source these amazing eggs from\u00a0Providore Farm<\/a>\u00a0in Narrawong, South-West Victoria. Zac and Alana Jeffries started their farm in 2015, driven by a commitment to producing premium, ethical food for their community and wholesale partners who value quality over volume.\u00a0

Their hens are truly pasture-raised. They live in mobile sheds that move regularly across the farm, ensuring they always have access to fresh pasture. They stock at just 156 birds per hectare \u2013 a stark contrast to the industry standard of 10,000 birds per hectare under the \u201cfree-range\u201d label. This low density results in healthier birds and richly coloured yolks that customers can see and taste.\u00a0
