Pushing Through<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Setting up a new farm is not for the faint of heart. The days are long and tiring, the to-do list can feel like it always gets bigger not smaller and there are many times where you just want to sit down and relax for a few minutes but know that is not an option. As a family we have been working almost every day since the start of January to transform a weedy goat paddock into a neat and attractive market garden. We do this because we love this lifestyle and know that once we have finished all the set up, we will have a fun and functional business to work in and enjoy. We love working and learning together as a family, thank you for your support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our produce is now featured on the menu at the Nelson Hotel<\/a> and is stocked and available at Food For Thought<\/a> and Limestone Coast Pantry<\/a> in Mount Gambier. Orders can also be placed through our online store<\/a> for local pickup and customers are welcome to come and visit the farm 7 days a week between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm. Weekly home deliveries to Mount Gambier will begin in a few months when we have a fully planted farm and more production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notes From The Garden<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

At Rainbow OMG we recognise the centuries long tradition of Moon Planting. In short the different phases of the Moon correspond to growth in in different parts of plants with about 7 days for each phase. The order is Leaf, Fruit\/Flower, Root and Stop. We find this cycle an excellent tool for planning and scheduling of all the regular tasks needed for a functional farm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are currently in a Fruit\/Flower Week and being that Spring is just around the corner we have begun seeded Summer varieties such as Tomatoes, Capsicums, Cucumbers and Zucchini as well as direct seeded Bush Beans in some raised beds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bok Choi also known as Asian Greens are from the Brassica family of vegetable which also include Broccoli, Cabbage, Mustard etc. Our Bok Choi\u2019s are much larger than those normally available in stores. The white stems are crisp and sweet and the greens have a mild, peppery flavour, Bok Choi grows year round in our climate so should form a staple of a seasonal, local diet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
